Do I need health insurance when travelling on an ETA?
Health insurance is not mandatory, but strongly recommended. You are responsible for all medical costs while in Australia. Some countries have reciprocal healthcare agreements with Australia — check if yours does before travelling.

Yes. You can use an ETA for cruises.
Note: If your cruise starts and ends in Australia (a round trip), the time spent on the cruise counts as time in Australia and does not reset your visa stay period.

No. The ETA is digitally linked to your passport. You will not receive a label or stamp, but you can check your visa details anytime in VEVO.
Can I extend my stay in Australia on an ETA?
No. ETAs cannot be extended. If you want to stay longer than 3 months, you must apply for another visa, such as the Visitor Visa (Subclass 600).
Do I need to carry proof of my ETA?
Your ETA is electronic and linked to your passport. However, it is recommended that you print a copy of your approval email or save it on your phone as a backup.
